I disagree.

I think much of what you say about the war is true. But the war Olmert is losing is not the physical war. He could win that. But I believe the cost for the future would be huge. Should Olmert have controlled the press better, I do not know how he could sacrifice the freedom of the press in order to control the message that is put out to the world.

So I wonder, what did the US offer Olmert that caused him, and his cabinet to agree to what appears to be a bad deal. What has Lebanon agreed to that is not being published? Israel can still order Nasrallah's death, if it becomes an necessary. Israel still has a very low casualty rate, and as the Israeli spokesman said, The true effect of the war will not be felt by Hizbollah until the Lebanese go back to their homes and find large bumpy parking lots. An advertising campaign at that point telling the lebanese that if hizbollah rearms, Israel will be back, will certainly be of some effect.

In the meantime, Israel is free to concentrate on Hamas, and solving their problems with palestine. If Olmert has bought enough time, and peace to effectively wipe out the leadership of hamas, he has achieved a victory.
