Re: "The belief in evolution, or creation, is a personal choice."
All 'beliefs' are personal choices. To believe in gravity is a 'personal choice'. To believe in Santa Claus is a 'personal choice'.
But science (all sciences, and any field of science) are reliant upon the same basic rule set. Theories come and go, based upon the evidence from testing. Superior theories replace those that are less capable of explaining the facts we observe.
Science, by definition, can only concern itself with the natural, not the supernatural, world. And, all theories are evaluated upon their ability to explain and most accurately predict the world that we observe.
"Are you trying to take that choice away from them?"
Of course not.
I'm not trying to take away anyone's personal choices.
But, if you want to call something a 'scientific explanation' then you need to be able to follow and meet the rules of science --- peer review of the proposed theory, and reproduceable positive testing results.
Without that, you may have a 'belief'... but it doesn't rise to the level of evidence of a science. |
