I DO criticize the force and damage that Israel has done to Lebanon.

I think Israel thought that Hezbollah was some sort of unified force that had to be cut off and trapped. That's why they blew bridges and cut off access to S. Lebanon. That's also why they hit so many targets on the Syrian border.

Look.......have you heard of MOSSAD? If not, look it up.......its Israel's intel. They are very, very good. They knew exactly what Hezbollah is and what its set up is.

The reason Israel destroyed bridges and roads and other infrastructure was to teach the non Hezbollah, Lebanese people a lesson. If you don't disarm Hezbollah, we will continue to hurt you. In other words, Israel behaves like a bad parent with its Arab neighbors. That's why the Arabs' resentment has grown rather than decreased over the years.

Israel has the same sort of shortsighted thinking that the Bush administartion has always had. It's displayed most garishly in that deck of cards that Bush kept of the "top" people in Al Queda. As if Al Queda was an organization rather than an ideology.

The people who are in control, the Likud party, are neos just like Bush and company. However, Sharon tried to change that arrangement before he got sick.......but now that he is in a coma, power has reverted back to Likud.

Israel should have given warning and opportunity for the people of S. Lebanon to get out before they did anything. THEN they should have gone in with EVERYTHING and cleared the area of Hezbollah and rocket launchers and any other threats.
They wouldn't have caused so many civilian casualties and they could still DEMAND a UN presence.

Many of the Shia people in S. Lebanon are poor. The Shia are to the Sunnis what people of color are to whites in this country. They have been marginalized for centuries...as a consequence the community has a great deal of poverty. Many people had no where to go no matter how many warnings they were given. Eventually some fled to Syria counting on that country's generosity. Unlike Israelis who have bomb shelters and Tel Aviv to run to.........the Lebanese were mostly stuck in place.
