We've bought a few pieces from time to time, but our standard is "Do we like it?" Secondarily, do we know the artist personally?

I like art and books so much I have to restrain myself. To do that I just say "I can enjoy this more here than I can in a box in the basement, and the walls are already full."

I've seen atrocious prices on some 'art' that defies logic. If I don't like it, it's worthless to me. Picasso comes to mind.

No offense to Picasso lovers.
