Thank you for the reply. What strikes me is implied in "may be but is not necessarily of benefit to each." It appears that some life forms, clearly preceding others along the mutational continuum, rely upon higher life forms for their development and existence. For example symbiotic parasites and some insects.

It's interesting to consider the interplay of these theories with some societies - Lamarckian (USSR), Darwinian, Biblical, etc.

Neither the Lamarckian (acquired characteristics) and Darwinian (mutational) theories stand up to scientific scrutiny, while the Biblical renditions are faith-based. Therefore the biblical can side-step scientific definition and evaluation; proof or disproof becomes impossible.

Unfortunately, even the most rigorous sciences (physics, chemistry) deny the faith-based hypotheses until they approaches the non-observable; it is then “law”s are based upon probabilities, not certainty -- funny it all seems to return to a faith-based position of some sort -- so to speak.

I think there is a book that discusses this; the title is something like Genesis and the Big-Bang Theory. :^)

Interesting subject.
