Snowball is the cutest. But, really, the non-wordsmithing of the media, and ourselves as well, I believe has led to some of the current problems we have between American citizens, as well as between citizens of other countries.

For instance, the "anti-war" crowd was out in force during Vietnam years as well. So in my mind, the "anti-war" aging hippies and now their children and wannabes, say they are against "all war" because they are "anti-war"...

BUT NONE of them have any solutions to the worlds problems, I've noticed.

Mostly, I think the current batch of "anti-war" folks are Democrats of various stripes who were mad that Bush won in 2000, and would have been mad at any other Republican who had won as well. A 40 year of Senate, House, and Administrative grip on society is heady indeed, and they didn't want to give up the "gravy train.

Looking back to 1999, here on SI, the small group was like a drop in the ocean but told the story...the same words of AntiBush-Anti-anything that smacked of change were here....It is interesting to look back. The papers of the day would show that as well.

As far as a "pacifist POV"....I can appreciate them ONLY if they do something constructive for our country and it's citizens while we are at war. I have a good many pacifists in my background, and many of them certainly did do good things for their fellow neighbors. Some of them tended the wounded in both the Rev War, and the Civil War...A couple of others looked after the families of the men who had gone to the Civil War. One group of them were part of the Underground RR, helping the slaves escape.

So in my mind, anyone can call themselves a "pacifist." Today that usually means they are "civil disobedient" and/or afraid to do much of anything....including helping anyone but themselves. And some of them that we see in the papers, don't even do a good job of that.

And regarding the term "war on terror"....can you think of a better one? Maybe the anti-war folks can think of a good name for the ongoing battle against worldwide murdering barbarians who will kill their own people so that they can follow the dictates of what they believe to be their religion.

I can't, but wish I could. Can you?
