If instead you think Israel should fight its own battle, that's another argument, but then I'd argue that Israel should be allowed to fight that battle unrestrained. Otherwise, you might as well force the relocation of millions of Israelis, thereby repeating the same history the Western world has vowed would never happen again.

I've never said anything about forced relocation of anybody. My argument for American disengagement from the Israel-Pal situation included the OFFER to allow any Israelis that chose to do so to relocate to the US, and give them citizenship and a few years of generous stipends to encourage acceptance of the offer. Those Israelis that choose to stay (and fight) can do so, but they are no longer America's responsibility, and their fight is just that, their fight. They can fight Arabs until the cows come home if they would prefer that to living in peace and equality in the USA. There is no mandatory relocation at all involved my disengagement plan.

it's kind of silly to argue against the 1948 resolution now

Hello? No, it's not. If it were, you wouldn't have all the enemies of Israel resisting the existence of Israel. None of the Arab UN member nations voted for the partition in the 1948 resolution. A neighbor's vote on where the borders are is a lot more important than the vote of someone 12 countries away.
