No one is willing to route out guerillas as it was done in the old days. Apparenly no country wants to sacrifce a large number of its own soldiers in that effort or commit acts that cause large collateral damage and propaganda victories for the terrorists/guerillas/freedom fights--call them what you will. Assymetric warfare plays to the advantage of these folks and not the established nations and democracies of the world. It is ironic that only Russia does what seems to be necessary to defeat these folks and then they talk like doves to everyone else. We need a new text book on how to fight these folks that takes the new realities into account. Are there ways to do it that take the casualties and collateral damage into account?
