I always hated the "van down by the river bit" on SNL.

It could have been cute for a quick spot, but like everything else they trotted it out over and over.

In the 70's there were like 10 different variety shows that had good stuff. 30 MILLION people tuned in to see a Carol Burnett reunion show. Those people could ACTUALLY remember when writers tried to write stuff that was funny and not just a time filler.

I remember how great it was to watch SNL when it first came out. TODAY it's nothing but a cure for insomnia..
