I don't regularly read the biotech valuation thread
but I see some politics over there, and ruffling of
feathers.

The discussion about privacy and NSA screening and
all is unimportant to me. I don't particularly care
if some people have their rights trod upon--that
group of people does not overlap much with my family
or the sort of people I know. There are, what, seven
billion people making noise on this planet--I care
about one hundred of them. Hey, that's me.

The last time I bought sinus pills I had to sign
something and give an address. This may or may
not slow down the problem with Meth in my state.
So what. National ID card, fine by me. Do I get
pissed when a cop sets up his speed trap and nabs
me, sure. But water under the bridge. My life does
not change much one way or the other.

Something on the order of 2000 people and several
billion dollars went up in smoke on 911--for sure
in rather dramatic fashion. Everything since then
has been a waste of people and money, Iraq is a huge
waste, tens of thousands of lives, and ~200 billion.

You have to know the magnitude of things and see
the truth of it all. There are little lies and big
ones. There are things that are important--and
things that are hundreds of times more important.

Drunk drivers kill far more people than terrorists,
in this country, there you are.

"During 2004, 16,694 people in the U.S. died in alcohol-
related motor vehicle crashes, representing 39% of all
traffic-related deaths (NHTSA 2005)"
cdc.gov

Why do we wring our hands about terrorism and
spend so much money fighting it? When the US govt
spends money, we get a lousy return on our investment.
I know that. Well, that is what comes off the top of
my head this morning, pre-coffee, stream of unconciousness;-)
