"Apparently a lot of folks around here just don't realize that even with the ill-fated QQQQ trade, Brinker's results beat the pants of about 101 whiny old buy and hopers."

LOL... How would you know how others have done?

What makes you think people who don't take Brinker's advice did poorly?

I've managed to do quite well using REAL MONEY and a newsletter portfolio that doesn't cheat with off the books accounting like Brinker uses.

If you are talking about RandeS... I'm quite sure he did just fine. Like me, most of our volatile tech holdings were outside of IRAs so we'd have taken a 30% or so hit right off the bat to the tax man... to sell equities. If I had taken Bob's advice in Jan 2000, then followed along with QQQQ... I'd probably have had to give up semiretirement and get a real job! My profit taking in tech and rotation into BTTRX, FedEx, GNMAs, buying down my mortgage, etc... saving cash to buy thousands of CACS shares at 39¢, trading LRCX, etc, etc. etc... did well for me.
