There was a big favorable swing in public perception of the US in Indonesia and the entire region (including Malaysia) due to US aid to tsunami victims, though as far as I know that hasn't been reported on. Ditto in Pakistan following US assistance following the big earthquake (millions homess with little press notice in the west) last year - despite the big positive move in US-India relations that also occurred. Funny how that happened with our uneducated, nuanced leadership, huh?

I would be willing to place a small bet on world opinion changing as soon as the administration changes from rep to dem.

There are two rather large assumptions made there.

That there will be a change in party following the next election and that foreigners share your opinion re. party positions.
