I was a surveyor in a combat engineer battalion while in the Marine Corps. I was a school trained instrument man and worked on many roads, runways, dams and bridges. That was about 50 years ago. A couple weeks ago, I was out for my daily walk and came upon a highway crew moving curbs to widen a street. I didn't even recognize the instrument the guy was using. Should have talked to him but he was a busy guy. I doubt I could run a level anymore. LOL.
