re: But at the end of the day, let's go back to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs (http://www.pateo.com/images/maslowmaster4ts.gif). If you don't have safety and security, then you won't ever get to all the other stuff above that tier. Physical needs and the need for security trump every other need a human being has.

Interesting post! I hadn't thought about Maslow wrt the "war on terrorism". Wonder if Rove has read Maslow as I have?

Security? How the hierarchy of fears between:

Cancer;
Heart attack;
Stroke;
Car accident;
Death by terrorism;
Bicycle accident;
Falling off a ladder and dying;
Death by bee sting

Where does terrorism realistically rate in this short list, and where is it in peoples minds? Who benefits from the fear of terrorism? Why is it a "war on terrorism", when you can't fight a war on a tactic, but you can fight wars on countries?

They have sold you a bill of goods Mindmeld. Not just Bush, but the media. Falling off a ladder is not news, but it's much more dangerous than terrorism. A terroist event is NEWS by God!

Terrorism is a pimple on our ass; we should have a war on ladders.
