Should we feel sorry for Lebanon? For the civilians, yes. But why are they supporting an organization they know is linked to Iran and which is bringing them utter misery? It seems self-defeating to me. They were on the road to Democracy and freedom and they've allowed Hezbollah to set them back decades. What a pity and what stupidity on their part. If I was Lebanese, I'd be pissed as hell at my government for not securing our borders and either co-opting Hezbollah into the national army or disarming them, if they refuse. It's a no brainer.

The people did not support Hezbollah......only the Shia in he south did....Lebanon is two parts Shia, one part Sunni and one part Christian. The reason the Shia support Hezbollah is because Hezbollah is also a social agency with hospitals, ambulances and a food agency. However, now with the war, most Lebanese support Hezbollah. Why? Because they stood up to the Israeli bullies. When you figure a way to justify the level of destruction we saw in Lebanon because two soldiers got kidnapped you let me know. But before you try, let me assure you there is no justification.

Lebanon kicked out Syria only last year. They were a fledging democracy. The fact that Hezbollah was in the Parliament made disarming them just that more difficult. If Bush and Israel were so freaked out, why didn't they offer to help disarm Hezbollah? After all, the Lebanese PM is an intelligent reasonable man.

In the meantime, Israel has created many more terrorists thanks to their attack. Everything has worsened in the ME. One can only be disgusted by what has happened.

BTW my God weeps for the innocent Lebanese who were slaughtered or lost their homes. Who does your God weep for?
