re: I think most economically literate people would understand how cuts from ridiculously high rates would increase revenue. The question is how quickly does that factor decrease. Its impossible to get an exact figure because you can't run controlled experiments. Also even if you could (and it really is impossible) the answer would be different in different circumstances.

Same with tax increases. Obviously deficits are a drag on the economy. When tax rates are too low, and the audited deficit mushrooms, what does that do to the economy? Remember interest rates?
