ValiMed's device that worked with entire IV bags featured a case where the bag is laid. An aperture was in the casee's base where the bag rested. While there was enough room in the case for a 2nd IV bag, the scanning obviously took place on the side where the apeture was located. The case's lid could then be closed, encompasing the bag(s). No sample was removed from the bag for the scanning and validation process.

Again I am reminded what Jim Jorgenson says...
