the mere existence of OER shows that CPI is just a figment of BLS' imagination. but now that OER is adversely affecting CPI, BLS are going to get rid of OER: BLS have created a brand new data series called Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), which excludes OER. HICP will become the official preferred index at a time and date to be determined at the Fed's leisure.
