I don't really care about their making excuses for their past failure to disarm Hizbullah, let alone permitting the group to seize control over Lebanon's sovereignty.
Lebanon's government has FACILITATED that civil war by failing to aggressively crack down on the Hizbullah attempts to forment war with Israel.
Well, maybe the Israelis should be supporting the Maronite Christians, providing them with rockets, missiles, and lots of weapons so they can get prepared.
After all, the Lebanese government seems to think it's perfectly alright to permit foreign governments to arm militias in their midst.
I have to believe the Maronites are VERY CONCERNED about rising levels of support for a militia that will not subjugate itself to the authority of the duly elected Lebanese government.
And I have to believe they could proclaim themselves the "resistance" against Syrian and Iranian aggression and subversion of their nation.
I mean, just ask yourself.. How is the existence of Hizbullah any different that the South Lebanese Army that the Israelis used to secure the border in the past?
Civil war is coming to Lebanon, I'm feeling pretty certain of this. Because this government has shown itself unworthy of being supported because it does not represent, or protect, the rights of their other religious and ethnic factions.
I am not saying 9/11 was right thing to do but was justified.

The scenes of 25,000 Americans trapped on the upper stories, flinging themselves to their deaths to avoid the fires, would have resulted more than just the annihilation of the Taliban or Saddam.
And this would have justified a full mobilization of this nation's military and industrial means to confront and defeat ANYONE who provided ANY MEASURE OF SUPPORT to Al Qai'da.
Maybe you should look at the INTERNAL, AS WELL AS THE FOREIGN POLICIES of the Middle east.
You have no legitimate governments, either because they are totalitarian, or lack free and fair elections and tolerance of free press and political opposition.
These government take the wealth of your nations and give it to their militaries, or to terrorists, in order to advance some expanist cause.
You send your children and women to commit suicide bombings instead of educating them to be participants in a progressive and tolerant economic and political system.
You take the oil wealth that Western corporations/governments helped you find, exploit, and develop, and permit it to be allocated by non-elected "elites", and as in the case of Iran, supporting terrorist groups that seek to undermine democratic governments and perpetrate wars against nations that don't even share a common border with you.
Don't preach to me about US Foreign Policy. If the US used the kind of belligerent rhetoric that is commonly found in the Muslim world, then you might have a right to complain.
But it is the Arabs, and the Persians, who are preaching the politics of hate.
You're so caught up in trying to restore your "glorious" past conquests, that you can even perceive how the world has changed around you. You have, as a whole, a false sense of "entitlement", perceiving that you have some kind of god-given right to claim "victim" status, when it is your own people who are perpetrating the crime.
So if you're for Arabism, you're for illegitimate government DEVOID of accountability to the people being ruled.
