Maybe so, but Bush is a hypocrite too. He says we need energy independence and then he gives $15B in tax breaks to the oil companies, no-bid contracts to his favorite US oil companies in Iraq, and spends $500B in a war on Iraq as part of a greater plan to cement the protection of our oil assets in the Middle East.

I'd much rather have Al Gore who knows how to use diplomacy and the other weapons at the US's disposal other than just the military. Bush is a one act politician. It's war all day every day. We've had great Presidents in the past who knew how to use all of our weapons: military, diplomacy, economic might, clout at major institutions like the UN and NATO, etc.

One of our greatest untapped weapons against these fanatical Islamo-fascists is our legions of entrepreneurs who could make a thriving industry out of making products including cars that don't use oil. But you need our government to kick their full weight behind it to overcome the very real obstacles such as embedded gasoline infrastructure that makes the barriers to entry almost impossible for small companies to overcome. Anyone who I think will take that $500B and counting and divert it to energy independence will get my vote.

If Brazil can do it, why can't the most wealthy and powerful country in the world do it? I'll tell you why...crappy leaders and a fat, lazy population with a sense of entitlement and no sense of what it takes to drive this country to the next level. We're at an inflection point folks. We either go the way of Rome or we use our super powers to prepare us for the coming challenges of the next 230 years.
