The money on the flyash was in the precious, semi-precious and the 'other metals'. "I thought" the driving force to get this going would have been the Electric Companies having to meet the EPA deadlines. Not sure what happened. Now as for the ole leaching process, I always thought there was an issue with containing mercury. As for "Maxam diworsifications" that was always a contentious issue even amongst family. I guess a large reason why I never took to the 'family business'.
Next you wrote"It could never be shown to be economic for funding, why?" Until one reads the papers on desert dirts no one ever realizes that .04 can be profitable. I myself have listened to a sales pitch (years ago) and the company balked at the notion that there is gold in the AZ desert. EVEN with CERTIFIED lab tests. I figured it would take 5 million to make a 100 million (easy). But I don't have the 5 million. To be honest if I had 5 million, the only reason I would spend it on the mining would be to prove all these ney sayers, pessimists and Jack A$$$$ wrong. I know the gold is there. I've seen it. I still have a vial (of gold) extracted from one of the properties.
As for the kids and college, the first two are sitting ok. Dad gave them each some (small amount) shares. I sold half at $1.00. Hindsight kills. But it was a nice gift and they will be ok with that gift and some other savings. Keep positive. It will come around. But when?
