Did you read the swimming faux pas article- with the republican politician? I thought that one was very similar- so cultural rather than racial? I thought- considering the horrible data I found on black drowning rates versus whites- that is wasn't such a "wrong" comment, so much as a foolish comment given that people are all looking for such comments, so that they can then jump on a person and howl "RACIST". But I'd be interested in what you thought. Because I like the way you frame it as cultural, rather than racial- but I'm not sure we're going to be able to convince society to see it that way (which is another issue entirely).
