Hi Hawkmoon; Re: "Certainly on its face, they [Lebanese Christians] can blame and hate Israel for what occurred to their country. But deep down, there is a well of hatred and fear regarding Shi'a militancy and the apparent hold they currently have on their country. As I cited in a previous post, the Christians and Sunnis, according to that author, have been reaching out to the Shi'a in hopes of fragmenting the support for Hizbullah."

You're repeating your wishful thinking from before the invasion of Iraq. Back then it was that the Iraqi people would love America despite all the bombs we dropped on them, and on their soldiers, brothers, sons, fathers, etc.

Re: "So while, as he asserts, the Christians and Sunnis might be praising Hizbullah with words, they are getting ready to "put a political knife" in their backs at the first opportunity they get."

The depths of your wishful thinking amaze me. What would you say if a sergeant prepared for a battle with this sort of argument? What you're hoping for is in direct contradiction to the evidence that has been given to you. It's not like you're operating out of ignorance, you're making wishes completely in contradiction to the evidence. Hope is not a plan. Neither is blindness. Is the situation really so dire that you have to grasp at straws?

By the way, the local right wing radio station I listen to was going on and on about how two of the countries that have agreed to send UN troops to S. Lebanon do not recognize Israel. Is that true?
