we can agree to disagree That's something else about which we can "disagree," the notion of disagreement. You use that expression all the time but it's a notion that just isn't meaningful to me because it's not about agreement or disagreement but rather about understanding. I can acknowledge the expression as code for "lets drop the subject" and accede to the suggestion but I'm not really agreeing to disagree because I couldn't care less about agreement or disagreement. I just don't operate there. What you see as disagreement I see as a shortfall in understanding. Changing th subject--I spent some time researching "nominalist" to see what insights there might be there. Eyes glazed over before I had a chance. <g>
