Hey Bruce,

The Rahman-Maskaev fight was quite good and my prediction utterly wrong, both in outcome and the process toward that outcome. At this point, I don't think that the categorization of Rahman as a fighter with a split personality, if you will, holds water anymore: rather, he's a lazy and undynamic fighter fundamentally who on rare occasions becomes exciting. This was certainly not the case before his KO loss in the Lennox Lewis rematch, and as such leads me to believe that he was dented, albeit imperceptibly, in that fight back in 2001.

As for Maskaev, he gets all the kudos I can muster. I've only seen Valuev fight once, so I'm not sure how that portion of a unification would go, but I would pick Maskaev over Liakhovich while envisioning Klitschko going through Maskaev like water. (Side note: We'll all get a good look at Valuev, the current WBA heavyweight champion, when he fights Monte Barrett in October.)

I do watch the Contender - it's a good program.

In addition to the Mayweather fight, a few other interesting fights I see coming up are:

Sam Peter vs. James Toney (2 Sept)
Clinton Woods vs. Glen Johnson (2 Sept)
Diego Corrales vs. Joel Casamayor (7 Oct)
