What I see is an IDF that really doesn't care one way or another about the rules of engagement or who they kill. If they think a UN post is a nuisance, it's gone. The Israeli government will back them up. Whether there are Lebanese civilians around isn't all the important. The UN can negotiate a safe corridor for refugees with the Israeli government and the IDF sees it as a shooting opportunity. The Israeli government will cover their backs.

You're no different. Cluster bombs are designed to shred any bodies in their path. Some 5-20% are unexploded and waiting for anyone; military, civilian, children, it doesn't matter. But you can push that aside and ask why the UN doesn't change it's packaging for food packets. If the US is doing the packaging, you just push that aside. Israel using cluster bombs you just push aside.

Olmert picked the losing option for Israel. Israel didn't have a shot at destroying Hezbollah. They shot more Katyushas on the last day of the conflict than they did at any other time. There were Hezbollah flags waving all over the Arab world. Not a whole lot of Israeli flags flying in victory in case you didn't pick that up on the news. Israel didn't achieve a single objective. Israel doesn't count and never has counted Arab lives, they only count Israeli lives and at the end of the day, Israel lost another 150+ Israelis and achieved nothing.
