I thought Maskaev did some of the best body punching against Rahman that I've seen from a heavyweight in quite some time. It was Maskaev's body punching in the middle rounds that paid big dividends in the final round for Maskaev. Rahman was so winded that Jay Nady had to literally pull Rahman off the stool to start the 12th round. Maskaev has heavy hands and he had great determination throughout the fight. Those two qualities will serve him well against any of the current beltholders or top contenders out there. I agree with Max Kellerman that there are four title holders in the heavyweight division, but no champion.

Jay Nady was horrible as usual. Clinching is allowed in boxing. Doing it to excess is the violation. Maskaev was certainly not holding too much when he was being reprimanded and unfairly warned by Nady. Round after round until he finally backed off in the last few rounds, Nady imposed himself on the fight which is exactly opposite of what a good referee is supposed to do.

Hopefully James Toney will be in good shape for his bout against Sam Peter. If he is, I see him winning pretty comfortably. Peter is going to get an education against Toney that will serve him well in later fights, but he doesn't know enough now to handle Toney.

I'd love to see Lamon Brewster in with any of the champs or contenders. Brewster is healing up from eye surgery I believe and I hope he's ready for action soon. Brewster is all action!

Holyfield looked very good in his fight on Friday. Much better than I expected. Bates was nothing much but he was in shape and packed a punch. Holyfield was able to let his hands go which has been a major problem for him. And he put 10,000+ people in the seats which none of these other heavyweights can come close to doing. It looks like the time off and the surgeries really helped him.
