I lived under the threat of a nuclear holocaust from the age of two. It only got worse as I grew up, and I fully expected the world to end in radioactive ash, and partied like armageddon was on the way!. I remember my dad considering a back yard underground shelter after the Cuban missile crisis, ducking and covering in school, the Nike-Hercules nuclear anti-missiles based near my house and neighborhood drills marching down to the community shelter.

Neocons are really wimpy cowards, worrying about a nuke or two - I used to worry about 35,000 advanced H -bombs, not one or two crude terrorist fission weapons.
Until the reign of the chimp Caesar, both we and the Russians had been working hard to diminish this threat. We had gone over the course of several administrations, both Democrat and Republican, from having ridiculous wild overkill nuclear arsenals to having only wild overkill nulear arsenals, and actually discouraging proliferation world wide, with a notable success in S. Africa.
The policies of the chimp ENCOURAGE nuclear prolieration. Iran having a few nukes scares me less than Pakistan having the number it does, but then, I don't have the dual loyalty with Israel problem that you do.
I don't consider Israel an extension of the Untied States. I worry about Israel as much as I worry about India or Pakistan nuking each other - not much. It's just not OUR problem. |
