EZM closed at an all-time high on friday on takeover rumors. On this merger of equals, there's a "sell the news" reaction and profit taking from people who were looking for a premium on a takeover.

Rather than being a takeover target, I think the new Lundin Mining will be acquiring large base metal projects to grow.

On the merger call this morning, they were asked what type of targets they'll be looking at for future acquisitions. They said they'll be targeting pre-production large base metal projects, wherever they are in the world.

IMO, this deal bodes very well for junior miners with huge deposits of zinc and copper. I'll be shocked if Lundin isn't one of the bidders for MMGG upon the completion of the feasibility study next year. I'll also be shocked if Anglo American, which owns the Skorpion mine in Africa (the first and only zinc oxide mine in production, which used the same team MMGG is using for the fease and the same technology) isn't one of the bidders. With one of the biggest pre-production zinc projects in the world, MMGG's Sierra Mojada will be in high demand after proof of feasibility.
