Hawk, I was watching a discovery special on future weapons last night. It was amazing to learn about laser weapons in production right now.

Yeah.. pretty wild stuff, isn't it?

I understand that the new GPS guided Artillery Round (Excalibur) is highly anticipated as well.

But I'm not really sure if anti-missile lasers are really going to be that effective against non-ballistic rockets (Katyushas). They generally have a "thicker skin" than the more fragile ballistic missiles, which either requires more energy in the burst, or a greater dwell time on the specific area being targeted.

And since they are generally fired "enmasse", it's going to be hard to develop a truly mobile laser that can effectively target a mass firing of them.
