Andrew: While I'm very sorry I started it and promise never again to invoke Occam or any other dead guy on this thread, in this case, the "elegance" you mention is the "razor."
As to LGND's value, in an equity deal, I do not know what the street will see other than LGND's own implied statement concerning the value of its stock: By accepting the deal, they (and the purchaser) will provide a value with the long-term built-in (discounted, of course, by the degree of their need for the cash and other assets of the partnership, e.g., production and distribution, etc.).
I'm glad you recovered from "a number of years studying political philosophy." I haven't. Even the fact that life hasn't been as "nasty, solitary, brutish and short" (I may have the order wrong) as promised is a bit of letdown some days. (:-) BUT NOT TOMORROW (actually, today)!
