well, I work for venture capitalists in the bay area reading business plans. We are getting hundreds of alternative fuel business plans every week. And the electric cars are coming, that tesla motors is the first one but there are others.

I don't know whats wrong with Detroit. We can build electric cars here and sell them for 60-80K and make a profit.

These are coming rapidly. If I could figure out a way to make a long term bet on US resiliance on oil, the oil industry and foreign oil, I would short it agressively now. The only way gas prices will be as high as now, in 10 years is if the dollar crashes by another 50% and china takes every drop of fuel in existance. I think electric cars will take off rapidly.
