Peter, I agree. There could be a lot more off shore drilling. One major issue in Florida, is that the string of recent Governors, have set the distance from shore that rigs could be situated. Now, I think if is 250 miles, which is a bit ridiculous to me. I wonder what they are going to do about Castro doing it so close. The fear here, is that the tourist trade would be hurt by off shore rigs, and that is a major factor in this state. Frankly, there are too many tourists roaming around the state, and getting in the way of the citizens. The dilemma is, that without tourists, our taxes would go a lot higher. So, the question is, do we want to pay more taxes for more oil.
Actually, I would rather see an alternative fuel, and fewer tourists at the same time, but that ain't gonna to be easy. |
