Look at the casualty numbers for "wars" or conflicts since ww2. We have dropped from millions of lives to thousands of lives. Most of the casualties have been at the hands of the terrorists against their "own" Muslim people. It's amazing that interMuslim violence is permitted by the Shiites and Shia clerics. Look at the Sunni snipers killing Shiites celbrating their religious date in Bagdad last weekend. How do the Sunnis figure out which people to kill walking down the street in the first place? Maybe these killings should not be making headlines in the first place. It's nuts.

Back to better weapons, I think the Israeli attack in Lebanon provided a great insight into the future weapons. I think you have suggested they are backtracking missiles launched from Lebanon to desermine the bombing sorties against the Hez. If you are only bombing installations that are sending missiles towards Israel, they can make a much better defense they were defending themselves and not leading a disproportionate attack.

IMO, it would be one thing for the Israelis to destroy S Lebanon if the bombs they delivered went against unprovoked targets. It would be quite another thing if they had gps statistics to show that all of their targets were selected by bomb coordinates from the other side showing they were responding to the missile.

In other words, how can the Saudis say the missiles launched by Israel to obliterate the target sending out missiles from the other side was disproportionate? I would think IDF could justify most of their missile targets using data showing they were only bombing targets that were attacking them, a direct form of self defense.

The war in Lebanon could have traditionally destroyed tens of thousands of Lebanese had the Israelis not surgically attacked the missile sights that were attacking them. One thing I found amazing in all the photos was a lack of bodies in the rubble. Precision bombs saves lives on both sides of the conflct. I totally agree that the threshhold of using weapons needs to be carefully guarded. I really think that someone lost their head by giving Israel the green light in the first place. You don't go to war over 2 soldiers. Reminds me of Shylock going for his pound of flesh.
