Select Sector SPDRs Climb on Hedge Fund Dough
2006-08-19
Daily News; White Plains

By Jacob Bunge, Financial Correspondent

NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com) - Over the last three years, investments in Select Sector SPDRs have increased fourfold, bringing total assets to $16 billion - and most of that pile is from hedge funds.

Dan Dolan, director of wealth strategies for Select Sector SPDR Trust, said that hedge funds now account for about 75% of the assets invested in his firm's exchange-traded funds, which separate the Standard & Poor's 500 stock index into nine categories; a similar level of volume can be likewise attributed. "The hedge fund world is clearly the driving force," he said.
