Why all this debate? This issue is clear as glass.

QCOM has a license to use GSM/EDGE IP only when in combination with CDMA/WCDMA. It has no license to build GSM/EDGE only phones.

Why would QCOM provide a license for QCOM to use its IP in pure GSM/EDGE or phones without receiving royalties on such phones just as they do on CDMA/WCDMA/TDSCDMA phones. QCOM currently receives no such royalties.

This is the reason QCOM is able to sue NOK and BRCM for pinching its IP and using it in GSM/EDGE phones.
