John - you still got it wrong. Its Nokia who has a license from QCOM to use QCOM's GPRS/EDGE IPR, but only in multi mode UMTS/GSM/GPRS/EDGE handsets, where QCOM will earn a royalty anyway. The question to ask is why would QCOM ever license Nokia to use its GPRS/EDGE IPR in stand alone GSM handsets when that would just enable GSM to better compete with CDMA / W-CDMA and delay the ultimate migration from GSM to a technology which generates a roylaty for QCOM.
