The world as we know only exists when we define standards for all manner of things -- including standards of conduct relating to war. Violate those standards, as Israel and the US both have done, and the civilized world turns against you, as it should. Perhaps you know how much hatred there is now for the US. Perhaps you don't know. This seething hatred is in large part caused by the conduct of the US in Iraq as well as the US support for the conduct of Israel. This hatred is visible.

I was in Canada a few days ago with an American tagged car. I had people lean out their car window and scream this: "go home you f'ing American". It is the same the world over. We are despised for what we are doing, just as israel is despised for what it is doing. Our war crimes breed hatred and destroy our own security. The best thing we could do to safeguard America is to live up to the high standards we espouse, and to put criminals in jail. This includes our war criminals.
