I doubt prices will collapse that quickly - homeowners have a hard time accepting their house is worth less than they thought just a few months ago.

And I think most people ignore the news on the net - we all knew the housing bust was here about a year ago! That is just being accepted now (i.e. no soft landing for housing articles are just appearing).

Maybe prices will fall faster than most previous busts - we will see.
