this settlement reminds me of when GOOG paid YHOO a few hundred million (in GOOG stock) early on to settle a PPC lawsuit. The yahoo's heralded it as a win for yhoo, and GOOG people saw it as a way for GOOG to move on and eliminate future lawsuits going forward, "the devil you know" kind of thing. Nothing worse than leaving yourself open for future lawsuits. Since apple has SO MUCH money, and this is only a $100mm settlement, its ok.
