16:59 SUNW Sun Microsystems analyst firm confirms Sun gained market share in worldwide server growth; Sun's revenue grows 13.7% (4.80 +0.17) -Update- Co saw its y/y server market revenue share grow by 1.3 points according to the Gartner Q2CY06 Worldwide Server Quarterly Statistics, which was released today. Sun was the only top-four server vendor to achieve y/y factory revenue growth, posting a 13.7% gain. In worldwide UNIX revenue, Sun established itself as the top server vendor by gaining 5.2 points of market share while its two nearest competitors declined. Sun's Solaris servers now account for the majority of UNIX server shipments worldwide with 56.9% share. Sun's y/y Solaris server revenue was up 12.9% while the nearest two competitors saw declines in their UNIX server revenue.
