Clarksterh -- ""Forcing a 'buy American' approach won't force us to save more, which is what we really need to do"" If all oil imports ceased and were replaced my US/Canada manufactured oil costing $30-$35/bbl instead of $70, then you and I would save possibly $0.80/gal on gasoline/diesel fuel purchases. What each family did with this savings would be an individual choice. The US might be able to save on military spending to if the world oil price fell and various countries that hate the US saw their oil revenues drop sharply.
