The deployment of international troops in S Lebanon will be the true achievement of the whole crisis. I guess it tends to be overshadowed by the complete unwillingness of anyone to send troops in for support. However, if you built it, they will come. I suspect the peace mission in S Lebanon will take a long time to build. Thanks for helping me keep my head screwed on straight.

As for the causus belli or whatever hostage precedents, I'm glad we are not waging war to protect people that volunteer to put their lives in the hands of terrorists. You don't walk around Gaza and expect to survive to tell much of the story. It's sad that the Muslims kill all of the people trying to report on the sad state of affairs the Muslims must endure. However, it just reminds me that the Muslims have no interest in any part of civil rights or the truth. They only want to protect their violent interests and miedeval traditions.

I think the risk premium of the whole middle east is being eased up as people begin to accept international violence. I must say that Britain and the US have done a great job to restrain terrorism outside of the ME. Some people might think it's sad to watch the world learn to accept the unacceptable. However, once we learn to keep in mind that our civil rights are only there to protect the greater interest of society, then we can learn to accept sacrifices like beverages on planes and profiling to make the world a safer place.

I thought the 60 minutes interview with the President of Iran was a huge blow to Iran. The guy seemed like an insane, deluded leader who lived in an Islamic time warp. It's getting toughter to take these guys very seriously. They seem to be living out of a comic book. The deliberate deception regarding nukes is only going to last so long before we have to take action. I don't sense much more risk in a US led invasion of Iran to wipe out his nuclear facilities than Israel going into S Lebanon. Hell, Iran thought S Lebanon won the war. I can't wait for their interpretation of victory once we get through with them.<g>

One last note on the TSA. Personally, I would like to see all electronic communication devices banned on airplanes as well as carry on luggage. It creates way too much wasted time waiting for people to get on and off the plane in the first place. I would be very happy to see people walking on the planes with just the clothes on their backs. People should have limited civil rights in areas backed by public transportation. I think the TSA could design these areas into restricted security zones to invite more separation of individual rights to protect the overall security. Cell phones, timers, beepers, etc... are detonators waiting to happen. We shouldn't waste our time trying to destermine who is a safe person. Pack all the stuff up and turn it on once you are out of the security areas of the TSA.
