We could get off Arab oil completely in 15 years without costing the US economy a single job.

Ignoring for a second that your assertion is silly, its also rather irrelevant.

Getting off Arab oil is meaningless. If we import oil from anywhere we are effected by changes in the supply from Arab countries.

The conservatiion and clean fuels programs Carter created would have had us 100% off Arfab oil by now,

Conservation has gone forward in may ways. We use noticeably less energy to create an inflation adjusted dollar of value today.

Neither more extreme conservation nor synthetic fuels would be enough to eliminate oil and gas imports unless they where taken to such a level as to be greatly damaging to our economy.
