Jerry Sanders was a real visionary.
It's hard to count all the companies that got into the same and similar areas and lost to Intel. I still think Hector spends more time figuring out how to move the AMD buildings close to his house than he spends on figuring out what features in the processor will maintain their lead. I think Dell's decline can be traced to the loss of focus when they moved the headquarters next to the executive houses, and summoned all the department-heads to meet them there instead of looking at the factoris and R&D. AMD has a few years before that kind of mentality will mess it up.
