We haven't spent a trillion dollars in Iraq. More importantly it would cost a lot more than a trillion dollars to remove our use of oil as a fuel or even to get to a situation where we didn't have to import oil. Also, huge new clean fuels programs will create hundreds of thousands of good jobs bastiat.org
