I see the War on Drugs as terribly unfortunate and not very fruitful, but it causes harm only to the individuals in question. (Not that that is insubstantial.)

But the WOT, IMHO, causes great, and possibly permanent harm to the republic.

It is going to be extremely difficult to walk the cat back from the positions in which GWB has placed us.
