I like to hedge risk by building up baskets of stocks, and it takes 5-10 to make a proper basket.

That's my rationale as well. I've consolidated a little, but still have 44 positions which still feels like too many. I suppose I should try to recite them all from memory...and sell the ones I have forgotten that I own.
