John, Unfortunately, i think this represents another "excuse" to sell. If i recall correctly, Microsoft stock was often "slammed" short-term by these investigations. Long-term, no effect.
There's no denying Andy & co's engineering/manufacturing/marketing/strategic expertise. I just wish this company would be a little more vocal about "touting itself" like Dell, CPQ, and others. Intel plays it too close to the vest, imo, and lets these rumours take the stock down. A statement to the effect "things are on track" or "PC sales are as expected" does wonders to sustain investor confidence. I'm just upset when DELL/CPQ says PC sales, Server sales, etc. are wonderful, their stocks are flying, and then some unsubstantiated rumour about Intel sales being soft hits the Street and hurts Intel stock. I know they don't want the stock to run ahead of itself but i do think they need to work on their PR. imo.
