Merrill's Mancini. Funny.

we believe the certifications were received early enough to replenish inventory in a cost effective manner (without expedited shipping which would increase SAC) prior to the holiday shopping season. We view this as a positive for both XMSR and SIRI as
the removal of this overhang should result in higher growth to alleviate investor fears regarding long-term subscriber estimates.

This woman is LOL funny. Last week she is bashing XM talking about how the "overhang" is going to hurt XM (but not SIRI). But now that the problem is apparently resolved, it is going to HELP both XM and SIRI.

Talk about being bought and paid for!

But here is the GOOD news for XM:

The new FM modulator device relies on an additional third wire which is installed by the consumer directly to their car’s antenna. Although this may complicate the installation process, XM suggested that it was a fix that would protect the sound
quality of the transmission for a good consumer experience.
The FCC, however, is still seeking the outcome of an internal investigation regarding the noncompliance of FM-modulator devices from XM, something SIRI already provided.

This is what is important -- if SIRI receivers all have the lousy S4 FM Modulator, then XM could come away with a great advantage if it isn't overly complex. As consumers return Sirius receivers for delivering lousy performance, it will be a matter of time until retailers realize they need to be pushing the receivers that don't bounce back.

While it has taken XM a little longer, if the result is a more workable solution it will have been worth it.
